What a treat to find an antique locket on its original bookmark chain. The metal is gold filled. The oval locket measures 2 3/8" in length from the top of the decorative V shape bale to the bottom. The front features scrollwork with four pearls set in a bar motif. The inside has the photo area with two oval inserts. The locket snaps shut and stays shut. Two areas on edge to use fingernails to pop open. Back is concave. The bale has a hook.
The bookmark chain has a large spring ring and cut out links. 20.5" in length and just shy of 1/2" wide.
Overall the condition is good-it is close to 140 years old so you will see some mellowing of the gold tones. Overall a wearable bold piece of Victorian jewelry.
