Antique 14K yellow gold ring (stamped and tested) featuring an approx. .75 ct Old European Cut diamond, in the very light color range, SI clarity range. The inclusions are seen by loupe/microscope and are low relief. Best part about this diamond is it has an indented natural inclusion on the girdle- if you are aren't familiar its pretty rare to see one left by the diamond cutter.
Why did diamond cutters leave indented naturals?
To peserve the largest possible finished diamond from the rough, as removing the natural surface would reduce the diamond's carat weight. To leave remnants of the diamond's natural, irregular surface from its growth process deep within the Earth and it sometimes demonstrated the cutter's skill, proving they hadn't removed too much of the original rough.
Reach out if you want me to try to zoom in on the natural inclusion and send you more pictures. Overall the diamond is secure and cut very well. My photographs are not touched up but this diamond will look brighter/whiter in lower light and have more color in brighter light-a bit of a cameleon -but that's what makes older diamonds so fun. It also has some interesting shaped crystal inclusions that you will always know it is your diamond.
