14K yellow gold ring features three colorful opals and round cut diamonds. The center opal measures approx. 6 mm tall x 4.5 mm wide. There are four round cut diamonds, 3- old european cuts and an replacement single cut -mostly likely done in the m 1950's. Only noticeable because I put it under the microscope. The prongs are up and over the stones-everything looks secure.
The opals are in very good condition for a piece over 100 years old. A tip for caring for opals -sometimes rub them on your clean forehead it helps them maintain their moisture. Also avoid cleaning them with tradition jewelry cleaner. Opals have water in their makeup and cleaners can dry them out.
